The European Commission is seeking proposals for projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan with financial assistance from the Human Rights and Democracy Thematic Programme.

The thematic program on human rights and democracy is based on the key features of the European Document on Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), which aims to promote and protect human rights, fundamental freedoms, democracy and the rule of law. Thus, all proposals within the framework of this competition should be aimed at (1) improving the regulatory environment that guarantees fundamental freedoms; (2) increasing the potential of independent media and civil society organizations, promoting the values of professional journalism and critical thinking.

 

Aims of the competition:

  • Strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations and independent media to exercise fundamental freedoms to protect and support journalists, bloggers and other media workers.
  • To raise public awareness and a comprehensive discussion of the central role of human rights and democracy in the regulation and use of new technologies.

 

The cost of one offer can range from 220,000 to 250,000 euros.

 

Terms of the competition:

  • Have the right to apply for participation in the competition non-profit organizations registered in Kazakhstan or in a member state of the European Union;
  • Candidates must submit their application in English.
