Civil Initiatives Support Center invites interested NGOs to jointly implement projects under the KUSANONE (Grass Roots) grant program of the Japanese government. The grant program of the Japanese government annually provides free assistance to small-scale social projects aimed at ensuring human security. Gratuitous financial assistance under the Grass Roots program is provided to schools, hospitals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other non-profit organizations.
In 2006, the Japanese Government formulated the Assistance Program for the Republic of Kazakhstan. Under this Program, three priority development issues were identified, such as: assistance in poverty reduction, environmental protection, improving the level of health care in rural areas of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition, attention is paid to projects involved in such areas as: attracting women to actively participate in labor market (Women in Development), primary education, public welfare. The grant amount for one project cannot exceed 10 million yen, which is approximately 85,000 US dollars.
Purpose of the program: to help ordinary people by implementing various social projects to ensure human security
Eligibility: The only requirement is that this should be a non-profit organization implementing projects in the field of socio-economic development of the population in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Also, at the time of submitting the Application, the applicant organization must have successful experience of more than two years
Application Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round. Projects are selected twice a year (for the spring period (approximately May-June) – until May 3; for the autumn period (approximately September-October) – until September 30)
