«KUSANONE (Корни травы/Шөп тамыры)» is an assistance program of the Government of Japan to small-scale social projects to ensure human security
The KUSANONE program is aimed at supporting projects implemented by non-profit organizations and providing assistance directly to ordinary people. Since 1997, 114 projects have been implemented in Kazakhstan for a total of US$7,495,036.
Grant funds come from the taxes of residents of Japan, so the Embassy of Japan carefully studies the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of each announced project.
Project budget: about 10 million Japanese yen (for 2023)
Grant funds cover:
- Acquisition of equipment necessary for the implementation of the project;
- Construction/repair of buildings or small scale infrastructure;
- Payment for an independent audit.
Eligibility:
- The following organizations are eligible to take part in the competition: local authorities, medical institutions, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, public organizations, public funds;
- the applicant must have a successful work experience of more than two years.
Application deadline:
Documents are accepted all year round by the Embassy of Japan.
The selection of projects is carried out twice a year: in the spring period – on April 30, in the autumn period – on August 31.
