Public Affairs Section, Embassy Nur-Sultan and Consulate General Almaty announces a call for applications for the Embassy’s annual Small Grants Program. Estimated award will range from 10,000 to 50,000 USD.

 

This year, applications are being accepted on the following topics: countering trafficking-in-persons, addressing air quality and promoting renewable energy. Depending on the topic, the goals of the projects are:

  • Reduce trafficking-in-persons in Kazakhstan by increasing awareness among potential victims, as well as strengthening capacity of individuals and institutions that can provide protection;
  • Improve air quality in Kazakhstan by increasing understanding of the causes and deleterious effects of pollution, as well as providing more environmentally-friendly alternatives to citizens;
  • Promote usage of renewable and sustainable energy sources in Kazakhstan through increased awareness and research.

 

Purpose of the program: This program supports the development of Kazakhstani democratic institutions and civil society by competitively awarding small grants to Kazakhstani nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and associations, to nonprofit civil society organizations (CSOs), and to independent local media organizations.

 

Eligibility: Only Kazakhstan-based not-for-profit organizations and civil society/non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply. In addition, in order to be eligible to receive an award, all organizations must have a unique entity identifier (Data Universal Numbering System/DUNS number from Dun & Bradstreet), as well as a valid registration on www.SAM.gov. Length of project period is up to 24 month.

 

Application Deadline: April 30, 2021 (11.59 p.m. Nur-Sultan time).
