A meeting was held at the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss the Civil Society Support program in Central Asia.
The program is implemented by the Eurasia Foundation with USAID financial support and consists of 4 main components:
- Creation of a group of youth leaders and their involvement in civic initiatives;
- Strengthening the role of civil society in enhancing transparency and accountability;
- Enhancing the ability of civil society to effectively respond to emerging opportunities;
- Institutional development of non-governmental organizations.
The discussion was attended by Vice Minister of Information and Social Development D. Yesin, Chairman of the Committee on Civil Society Affairs A. Galimova, Chairman of the Board of the Civil Initiatives Support Center B. Mukina, Program Director of the Eurasia Foundation Robert O’Donovan, Director of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia R. Temirbekov, USAID representatives A. Emelin and A. Dayirbekova.
In the course of the dialogue, it was noted that in order to synchronize measures taken in the development of civil society and support of young people, the Ministry, together with the CISC, are ready to provide expert and methodological support for the implementation of this Program.
